- Small group of 35 maximum

- High crew to passenger ratio
- Fast modern air-conditioned Catamaran
- Visit Michaelmas Cay - an unspoilt Coral Island
- Hastings Reef - a magnificent Outer Edge Reef
Seastar is the first to arrive at the Cay, as soon as the boat stops it is at once surrounded by large and friendly Batfish; these inquisitive, harmless fish enjoy swimming with snorkellers.
From here, their stable Tender can transfer you the short distance to the island or you can swim to it. Michaelmas Cay is not only world renowned for its thousands of nesting birds but also for its myriad of colourful corals, giant clams and reef fish.
Introductory Scuba Divers (extra charge if not included in price) find this is an excellent location to try their first dive; the shallow waters are not as intimidating for those unaccustomed to diving and with the assistance of a friendly dive instructor you will be guided to interesting corals, clams and marine life only metres from the boat.
Lunch is a delicious variety of hot and cold dishes, prawns, cold meats, selected breads, tropical fruits and salads. This is served whilst travelling from Michaelmas to Hastings Reef, where on arrival; you are content, rested and ready to enter the water again.
Seastar Lagoon is the best part of Hastings Reef right on the Outer Edge of the Great Barrier Reef. This is a very different reef to that of Michaelmas Cay, it rises steeply from the deep water ocean floor.
Along the steep edges there are swirling schools of small fish, colourful parrot fish, turtles, giant clams, “friendly" little reef sharks, bright yellow butterfly fish, pairs of rabbit fish, countless varieties of brightly coloured damsel fish and of course, Nemo.
Snorkel Tours- If you are not quite comfortable snorkelling, or you would simply like to learn more about the reef and its inhabitants, you can join in a free guided snorkelling tour.
Glass Bottom Boat- Join in on the guided Glass bottom boat tour on the superviewer with commentary learning about the reef while staying dry.
With over 5 hours at the reef you are able to enjoy up to 3 certified or introductory dives if you wish (extra charge).
Prior to departing Hastings reef, afternoon tea is served. Departing the reef you have time to relax on the short journey home arriving in Cairns.
Please Note: In accordance with Australian Diving law, ALL divers must complete a medical questionnaire on board, before diving.
Introductory Divers NOTE: Certain medical conditions may prevent you from diving (such as asthma,epilepsy, diabetes, ear problems) please enquire when booking. Minimum age for diving is 12 years.
DAY TWO - RAINFOREST - CAPE TRIB CONNECTIONS
This tour is one of the most popular things to do from Cairns for backpackers and travellers on a budget. This Cape Tribulation daytrip combines with the over-night tour transfer service for the guests who are staying overnight in Cape Tribulation. If time permits an overnight stay at Cape Tribulation is a fabulous way to experience the rainforest sounds and animals as most rainforest animals are nocturnal.
Itinerary:
* Return hotel transfers in a 21 seater air-conditioned coach, starting from 7am
* Daintree River cable ferry
* Alexandra Range Lookout - birds-eye view of the Daintree River, Port Douglas and on a clear day, landmarks South of Cairns
* Marrdja or Jindalba Boardwalk [Guided] where you can experience ancient rainforest
* Morning & Afternoon Tea
* Lunch is a pre-packed lunch served in an esky near the Cape Trib Beach.
* Cape Tribulation Beach - take a walk along the beach where 'the rainforest meets the reef'
* Daintree Ice Cream Company for a chance to buy a tropical fruit ice cream (time permitting and extra cost).
* Daintree River - 1 hour Crocodile / Wildlife Cruise - domain of the large Estuarian Crocodiles. Egrets wade near mangroves in the murky water of the river where crocodiles wait patiently for a meal.
* Mossman Gorge - crystal clear waters, surrounded by lush rainforest - a magical location for a refreshing swim!
* On the journey home visit the picturesque tourist town of Port Douglas, arriving back in Cairns after an exciting day between 6.30pm or 7pm.
Please Note: Due to daily conditions the order of itinerary is subject to change.
