According to a poll run in The Cairns Post Trinity Beach is the stretch of sand and waves that is voted as the region's top beach. The poll was run in October 2010 and comes as no surprise to us here at travstar.com. Locals and visitors favour the idyllic beach for its calm waters. Clifton Beach was voted as the region's second favourite beach with 28 per cent of votes, and Kewarra Beach was a distant third.

The half day white water rafting with Raging Thunder is on the Barron River and includes approximately 2 hours of White Water Rafting
Cairns is lucky enough to have the Barron River located just 30 minutes away. The rapids on the Barron River are of grade 2-3 which means they are simple technical rapids with a need to maneuver the raft, which results in great rafting for first timers.
Barron River Rafting - anticipated commencement of operations on Friday 11th February

Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club is fully operational

We are very pleased to advise that Paradise Palms Resort and Country Club is fully operational with no structural damage with power restored and the area is looking beautiful. We were very lucky to come through Yasi and happy to advise that all guests and staff are all safe and sound.
About 20 staff and a large handful of golf members worked for two days on a working bee to clean up debris from the golf course and its now back in its former condition and beauty.
Our telephone lines and the internet is now working and thank you for your patience, understanding along with kind wishes while lines and internet were down last week.
Authorities have declared the Cairns Domestic and International Airport to be fully operational and we are more than ready to welcome guests. While there are areas of Queensland that were devastated, the major tourist towns such as Cairns, Palm Cove and Port Douglas were spared the full force of Cyclone Yasi and business is back to normal.

Tjapukai reopening on Wednesday, 16th February

Good Afternoon everyone,Well as we are all very well aware Mother Nature has been playing havoc with most of Australia this summer and unfortunately Cyclone Yasi that hit our coast last week did not spare Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park.
We have sustained considerable damage to our Dance Theatre, Cultural Village, Restaurant and the electrics within parts of the main building.
We therefore have to remain closed for both Tjapukai by Day and Tjapukai by Night until Tuesday, 15th February 2010, reopening both products on Wednesday, 16th February.
We will provide you with an update of our status on Monday, 14th February.
We do sincerely apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused, but please be assured that we have not made this decision to remain closed lightly. We do not want to put any of our staff or customers at risk until we are 100% sure that the entire park and the experiences that we are offering are safe and of a high standard.
