Double Island Kayaking - Trinity Beach

Palm Cove Watersports offers a Sea Kayaking tour twice daily which circumnavigates Double Island. The single and double kayaks are designed for the open water and highly stable. They also offer a Sunrise trip, this one is shorter, but well worth the effort to experience the spectacular sunrise over the ocean!

From Palm Cove beach you will paddle across to the resort side of Double Island in about 30min. You will have time for a rest or walk along the beach. This is a popular holiday destination for movie stars but you are more likely to see some of our famous local wildlife.

Spot Lagoon Rays, Turtles, Dolphins, Sea Eagles and other wildlife whilst your Guide gives an informative talk on the Island and its surroundings. The kayaking around to the northern side of the Island will take another 30 minutes. 

Guests have the option to have a snorkel off the beach and take a closer look at the coral that fringes the Island. For approximately 1 hour you can sit back and relax on the sandy beach and take in the stunning views of the coast, the Daintree and Cape Tribulation.

Fresh tropical fruit, cake and cold drinks are provided. The return paddle to Palm Cove will take a leisurely 45 min.

• 8:30am/1:00pm Kayak instruction and warm-up.
• Kayak to Double Island Resort, stop at south and north end
• Enjoy a tropical fruit platter, cake and juice
• Kayak through Scouts Cap and spot dolphins, turtles, rays and seabirds diving for food
• 12:00pm/4:30pm - Return to Palm Cove Beach.

Getting There:
You will need to make your way to Palm Cove meeting 100m south of the Palm Cove Jetty. The local Sun Bus has a morning departure from Cairns City to meet in time for trip departure or return transfers can be organised from either Cairns or Port Douglas for $15 per person each way.

There is minimal fitness needed for this Adventure as the tour is designed for everyone to go at their own pace.
