BREAKFAST WITH THE BIRDS

The award-winning Wildlife Habitat provides visitors with a chance to observe up close a huge range of flora and fauna. "Breakfast with the Birds" is a must do to truly enjoy this experience and encounter the wildlife up close.

Situated on eight acres of land that has been recreated to provide a window into our natural environment, visitors can wander through three different and unique environments that depict numerous species of the surrounding rainforest, wetlands, and grasslands.

The Wetlands

The Wetlands depicts the amazing diversity of our natural wetlands that are important fringing areas and provides a link to many ecosystems. An array of wading birds can be viewed foraging for fish in waterways beneath the boardwalks.  The restaurant is within the Wetlands environment where guests can enjoy Breakfast with the Birds and Lunch with the Lorikeets whilst enjoying the cacophony of sounds and colours of wildlife.

The Rainforest

Representing the Wet Tropics rainforest environments where native species such as the Southern Cassowary, Boyd’s Forest Dragon and colourful Eclectus parrots can be viewed in a natural setting. Boardwalks meander along the forest floor to the rainforest canopy.

The Grasslands

This open-air exhibit portrays both inland and coastal plains. Here you can interact with Queensland’s largest range of kangaroos and wallabies from the statuesque Eastern Grey Kangaroo and endangered Lumholtz’s Tree Kangaroo to the petite Parma Wallaby. Boardwalks overlook lagoons where both Estuarine and Freshwater crocodiles lurk beneath murky waters or bask on the sunlit banks.

"Breakfast with the Birds" is available daily from 8:00am to 10:30am. Experience the symphony of sounds and colours of wildlife as they wander freely amongst the tables.

Inclusions - Breakfast with the Birds (including park admission & free guided tours of the three immersion environments)

Greeted with orange juice, you will be treated to one of Queensland's best tropical breakfast buffets. Breakfast with the Birds includes fresh tropical and exotic fruit platters, cereals and freshly baked pastries. While the BBQ Chef prepares fresh eggs cooked to your liking, you can choose from a selection of hot buffet items.

After breakfast, guests may join the regular guided tours and animal presentations. The guides will provide informative and entertaining information about the flora & fauna at The Habitat, as well as a learning experience about Koalas, Pythons and Crocodiles. Guests can also have an opportunity after the presentations for an interactive experience and souvenir photo holding these amazing animals (extra charges apply).

There is also Kangaroo Food for $2 per bag which guests may like to purchase.

Daily animal presentations allow guests to see and touch animals up close. These presentations provide a learning experience about Pythons, Koalas and Crocodiles. For a close encounter, you can have the opportunity to purchase a souvenir photo holding these captivating creatures. Presentation times vary and times can be checked daily on entry or at the presentation hut.

The Wildlife Habitat is located at the entrance to Port Douglas, 50 minutes north of Cairns along the scenic Captain Cook Highway coastline. From Port Douglas, the park is located 6 kilometres from the main street.
