The Cairns City Sights tour offers a fun, relaxing, fascinating and very informative afternoon. Professional naturalist guides make this a unique, documentary style tour which has been highly recommend by Lonely Planet Guides.

The afternoon begins with a comprehensive tour of the city and harbour including the wharves, sugar terminal, trawler base etc.

Cross town via Central Swamps nature reserves, Centenary Lakes and several (secret!) hotspots for birdlife and many classic old Queenslander homes.

On to the Flecker Botanic gardens for an (exclusive) fascinating, professional horticulturist guided walk which everybody raves about! 

Next stop is the very up-market “Edge Deli” in the heart of Edge Hill for a superb “Genovese” coffee, hot chocolate, pot of tea, juice or other cold drink served with gourmet scones, jam and cream (advise if special requirements).

Continuing on to Campbells (Lake Morris Rd.) lookout, on the way pause regularly to study many spectacular flowering/fruiting trees loaded with birds or bats as the seasons change, touring through Edge Hill and Whitfield.

Travelling North via Kamerunga detour to visit Lake Placid and the Barron Gorge National Park to view the Surprise Creek waterfall (and several others).  The bridge to the Hydro Power Station offers spectacular views of the Surprise creek railway trestle bridge and Skyrail in the distance crossing the gorge.

Next stop is Paradise Palms Country Club (on request) stunning views and a quick cold drink, then on to the Outback Opal Mine at Clifton Beach for Iced tea or water and a presentation in the showroom.

A tour of Palm Cove from the Sea Temple Resort right up to the jetty for a stroll and great views up and down the coast is the grand finale.

As the sun starts to sink behind the Macalister Range we head back to Cairns with ongoing commentary and a chance to write in our visitors book.
